The Terrazul Institute was founded as a socio-environmental organization in 1999.
It is based in Fortaleza, in the State of Ceará, in Brazil.
· To contribute to a reflection about our future, both as citizen and as species living on Planet Earth.
· To amplify the discussion about environmental issues, linking them to their economic and political causes. To fortify the struggle for a worthy life, for a healthy future and a new civilization model that respects the ethnic, cultural and biological diversity of each individual and each society.
· Elaboration of studies, research and actions in the following areas: education, citizenship, ecology and health. · Realization of environmental education programs for young people and adults. · Execution of sustainable development programs in rural and urban areas, aiming at social development from the perspective of a sustainable society. · Support of the environmentalist movement, participating in campaigns and activities. · Incentive to citizenship participation and to solidarity, connecting and creating movements, associations and networks.
· To promote environmental education programs and to participate in actions and campaigns in defense of the environment, of the biodiversity and local populations, searching the construction of a sustainable society, based in a systemic concept of life, in which all physical, psychological, social and cultural phenomena are interconnected.
